Yellowfin has a very powerful and easy-to-use charting feature which enables you to produce sophisticated and visually appealing charts to display a simple summary of your data or to represent complex relationships within it. With Yellowfin, once you have selected the data to be used in the report, you can visualize this data in many ways simply by altering the attributes that you use in the chart. !01chartStep.png|thumbnail,border=1! ||\#||Function/Panel||Description|| |*1.*|*Navigation*|Access various builder steps by clicking on the links in the navigation bar. The *Report* link provides the user with save options throughout the building process, rather than waiting until the final step.| |*2.*|*Report Fields Search*|Search for fields to use in the chart here, accessing all fields added to the *Data* step of the builder.| |*3.*|*Report Dimension Fields*|Select dimension fields to use in the chart here, accessing all fields added to the *Data* step of the builder.| |*4.*|*Report Metric Fields*|Select metric fields to use in the chart here, accessing all fields added to the *Data* step of the builder.| |*5.*|*Advanced Function*|Use this button to apply an Advanced Function to a field for use in the chart. bq. This allows the user to apply formatting changes to elements of the chart and preview the output. bq. In the example above we have selected a standard Scatter to demonstrate the most common components; Horizontal Axis, Vertical Axis, Colour, Size, Animation. h2. Adding a Chart to a Report {styleclass: Class=topLink}[top|#top]{styleclass} The chart creation process requires that the data for the report already be defined. When creating your report, select the data you wish to use and choose either the: |!chart.gif!|Chart Only; OR| |!tablechart.gif!|Chart & Table; options from the report menu| {color: #C00000}*Note:*{color} You will only have the chart configuration option if you have selected one of these two options. When you first run your report you will *not* see a chart but instead you will now see a configure chart image. Chart Configuration {styleclass: Class=topLink}[top|#top]{styleclass} The chart configuration page provides you all the tools to better visualise your data. From here you can select the data you wish to use in your chart, define the series formatting - such as colours etc, and format your chart for professional presentations. !02builderParts.png|thumbnail,border=1! # Chart Configuration Menu - all the format options relevant to the chart type you have selected. To select a chart use the 'Chart' selection drop down # Chart Series Selection - choose the data you wish to apply to the chart # Series Edit - edit the series options for the chart type selected # Either your chart will be displayed or the chart configuration image as no chart has been selected and appropriate data applied # The Chart Resize option allows you to drag the chart corner to resize the chart to fit your report # Close Button - click this to return to the main report page \\ \\ {horizontalrule} {styleclass: Class=topLink}[top|#top]{styleclass} |
